I don't usually buy bullion coins especially color coins. But sometimes they scream buy me. Found this for $25...probably overpaid but I like the coin. First Hologram I have seen on a coin, and an outstanding one IMO. Edited by MontCollector 03/25/2017 03:38 am

This coin, the Notre Dame and the Saddledome coins are beautiful. If you catch the reverse in the right light (as you did), the effect is stunning. Love it!!

At $25, I don't think you overpaid. After all, that's only $5 over face value, and compared to any $20 for $20, this $20 coin is amazing. Nice coin.

Nice. But I wouldn't call it bullion. It still sells for a premium up here in Canada. Less than issue price but more than you paid. Mintage was 15,000 I believe. Nice find.

Never bullion. Don't know the issue price of this, butnew similar RCM coins priced by mint CAD 100-120. Finding this one for USD 25, you paid something like $5 over silver contant which is very low, and this one NCLT. When I buy some modern bullion, I usually pay CAD 27-30 per coin + CAD 8-10 shipping..... So, you scored nice coin for great price. Congrats!

Definitely not bullion. Issue price was $69.95CAD and mintage for the three coins in the series was a combined 30,906. $25 (even USD) is a steal for that coin.

I bought the three coins, as my son was born in 2006. They are tucked away in a box for him someday...

I see list prices between $60-70 CDN at a few dealers websites for this coin. I'd say if it's one you really want, anything under $50 would be a deal. If it was bought as an investment, for the silver content, I'd happily trade a 1 oz round or bar for it any day. As to reselling it, you'd probably be able to make a few bucks, but hardly worth the time and effort. It is a cool coin. Out of curiosity, what's the mintage number on the COA? I recall trying to find out how many were made when I was looking at buying one years ago but only found a listing for the series as a total, as mentioned already.

Thanks guys. Quote: Out of curiosity, what's the mintage number on the COA? I recall trying to find out how many were made when I was looking at buying one years ago but only found a listing for the series as a total, as mentioned already. COA says "limited mintage of 15,000 coins world wide." This one is number 04916.

Thanks. I was hoping it was towards the end of the run to get a better idea of how many were sold. I know they didn't sell out since the total mintage was less than 45,000 coins for the series as a whole.

I know they didn't sell out since the total mintage was less than 45,000 coins for the series as a whole. Unfortunately, a high number would not give you that information. I have several COAs from that era that have a number higher than the actual published mintage. Some of them are thousands of numbers higher than the final mintage totals. COAs are not (or at least were not then) assigned as coins are minted.

I don't understand why they would ever be higher than the number minted. One would assume they would start at 1 and work their way to the last coin sold.

From charlton V2 re: 2006 Canadian Architectural Series - "....quantities were not recorded individually in the RCM report of 2006, but only as the total number of coins sold that year. While the COA may show a mintage of 15,000 for each coin, it is apparent from the RCM Anual Report that this was not the case." Quantity sold is listed at 30.906 for all three as CC-Ottawa reported.
