Order now, and because it's over $175 get the Canadian Maple Leaves 1/2 oz. Fine Silver Coin (2016) free.
Shows Starts shipping on 06-12-2016. I wonder what the other coins will look like?

Ordered! (Bonus coin was automatically added to my cart.) I hope the SD has more "depth" to it than what is shown in the coin's illustration on the RCM web site -- it appears rather flat / 2-D. Most RCM coins look better in person than they do in the artist illustrations, however, so I'm cautiously optimistic.

Quote: What point are you trying to make? Sorry, I actually asked But knowing the answer now, the point is: which amount will need to spend in the future, to get this set for free? I see RCM overloaded with un-sold items....

FWIW, that silver dollar design (or one very similar) was one of three the Mint proposed to be produced as a special silver dollar made to order and selling for 59.95. I'd assume at that price, it would not be selectively gold plated.
That is, they plan to offer it for sale and take orders until a certain date (April 15th in the example). After that date, they will take no more orders and will produce only the number of coins ordered. But the number of orders is not limited (blind mintage).

Ordered through my rep. This is the first time he pass along the promotions available to the general public in his "new release" email. I guess they finally realize people (even the MC members) are holding off buying stuff from them until there are some incentive provided.
BTW, we only need to add another 46$ of stuff to the order to get the Lucky Loonie Roll as well, which retail for 50$ with FV of 25$... so some combination of the ghost coin, 50-cent roll, coin frames seems like good filler here.

Thanks for the notice! So in 2017 will be the Regular Silver Proof set with some type of coloured or plated SD, plus this 150th set as well.
What is the expected shipping date of the 2017 150th Proof set?

The US Mint did this for a couple of coins released within the last few years; its web site displayed a counter to show how many sets had been ordered. I wonder if the RCM would do something similar with such a "mint by demand" SD?

Silveroid,
The set as described will not be duplicated but I'd bet my next coin purchase that there will certainly be more 150th coin sets. The specific wording in their description implies that. Tricky and misleading, as some people such as yourself will take it to mean it'll be the only set. I've got a feeling this one will do very well. On the fence. I'll ask my 2-1/2 year old kid... Better judgement than me when it comes to coins lately.

Commems, That would certainly be interesting, but how will the RCM (or how did US mint) deal with returns? Do they just get melted?

I wonder how many kids will bust these sets open and spend them. Not that I'm saying I'd ever do that.... As a teen..... To buy smokes..... From the store in the basement of the building down the street where I grew up. Hey, don't judge, it was before the Internet and my buddy came up with the idea a week earlier with sets his grandmother gave him, I just followed suit. As a Numi now, I choose to remember them being regular sets with nothing silver. But who knows.

@Redzapsid: The USM's online counter only kept track of orders received. Once the ordering period was closed, the Mint did a final reconciliation of orders received vs. returns, cancellations, etc. and posted a final sales figure once its audit was completed.
Returned items that are defective and that can't be resold are melted by the USM.
