Thanks. On paydays I used to buy a couple of common halves and throw them in a jar. Eventually the jar would fill up and I'd cash it in, usually to buy a coin. Sort of a coins for coins project.

My goodness pepactonius that's quite a stack. Common or not they're coins of beauty.

Pepactonious has an absolutely incredible coin collection! Every time he posts something, I' m blown away! I hope, maybe, someday to have a collection 1/10 as nice as his!

Every time he posts something, I' m blown away! Thanks. It helps that I've been collecting for about 58 years, and stacking gold for 50 or so. Many of the coins you see were obtained long ago and prices are an order of magnitude higher today. For example, my GSA dollars were obtained directly from the mint/GSA. I think the prices varied from $30 to $60, except about $500 for the 1879-CC. Likewise, many of the gold coins were obtained when gold prices were much lower than present -- my favorite St Gaudens $20 cost about $60 back in the mid 1960s.
