This area of FL has been very lucky for YEARS Bryan. I understand his attitude! Hopefully that will continue. We are just a few miles from the mandatory evacuation zone. Everything close is closed Thursday and Friday. Stay safe and thanks for the prayers! Praying for you all along the east coast as well.

Stay safe those of you in Matthew's path. Based on past experience, the days after the storm can be worse than the storm itself. Please be as prepared as possible.

By the look of that tracking chart this storm looks like it will turn around and have another crack at FL next week

We're in Camden County GA, about 15 miles inland. Shouldn't be too bad here, but the storm is hitting the coast in about 3 hours at high tide. Just about worst case scenario for them. Almost forgot to set my recording barograph. Down to 1000mb currently.

I'm in Naples / Ft Myers and we were spared from even most of the outer bands. Today has been rather breezy from the backside of the storm, but next to no rain since last night. We are watching the loop-de-loop very closely since it could bring tropical rains across SW Florida to makeup up for what we didn't get from the first pass. Praying for those on the Atlantic coast.

Great barograph! Is that from the 1930's?

I think so. Has the Art Deco look doesn't it. Am pretty sure it was used at the Watertown NY Weather Office since the 60s, and the supervisor there said I could have it in 2000, when it became obselete. But not exactly sure how old it is. I had to send out the clock to Chelsea Clock in Boston, to have it repaired. The whole thing was yellow from years of cigarette smoke. Down to 995 mb now

Absolutely worth having it repaired. Keep it safe from the Steampunk Makers -- they'll turn it into part of a Rube Goldberg.

Now that is one cool barograph!
We just had a bit of wind and rain here, but power and internet seem to do ok, and according to the news, the storm has calmed down a bit now. How's the rest of you doing?

Made it down to 990mb. Was a long night with tropical storm conditions for about 6hrs. Some trees down around here, but we survived without a major hit, and spent the morning cleaning up branches and leaves. Lost power for about 18 hrs, and it just came back on. Water has been off since yesterday, and is still off. Not so lucky at the coast from central FL to southeast GA. Beaches took a pretty good hit. Just saw footage of part of A1A getting washed away. Am sure some homes are gone, but will take a day or two for full damage reports. The bridges to the beaches are opening slowly after they are checked for damage and deemed safe.

I saw some of the damage on the news this morning. Looks like a big mess.
Still - nothing compared to the devastation in Haiti.
edweather -- I hope your water is back on soon. Is it typical to loose water after a hurricane? Or is this different? There was nothing about that on the news -- just that a million or more were without electricity, which one would expect.
