Bingo... and the price of silver was higher in 2012...

If you are going to use the price of silver of as a measurement, the 2012 penny set was very expensive because each coin had only 1/10 oz of silver or 5/10 oz of silver total. Paying $149.95 for 1/2 oz of silver in 2012 was way out of line with all silver coins sold back then.

In contrast, the 2016 Penny set has 7 oz of silver, a much better deal than the 2012 set. As I pointed out several times, the 2016 set is in line with prices of silver NCLT currently sold by the RCM.

Canada / US Collectors, please buy it...

AMAZING price (not I am the seller), just saw it:

2012 Canada HUGE 1 cent Farewell to the penny 5 oz. 99.99% silver -no sleeve

Pay attention: no sleeve

CAD 604 + shipping CAD 15

Item ID = 201694693457

(this is the seller, who sold the Gold Delta by mistake with reduced price)

You welcome :)

Hope, you don't mind the lack of 100% OGP and bought it for yourself.
The market price softens with years even for the great pieces...

Yes, it's for me that's why I didn't mind no sleeve. It will never see the maroon clamshell again let alone the sleeve. It will be displayed with the Legacy penny set.

Just curious, is it safe to buy something like this on ebay that use only stock photos? I am a chicken myself so even if I run into something like this I wouldn't dare to the risk...

I brought the coin and I understand the precaution but the seller is Northern Numismatics from Edmonton, a member of the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association and over 14,000 sales on ebay, I feel confident they are a reputable seller.

Just received an email from RCM.

This message is to advise you of an update regarding your order for the Legacy of the Penny Five-Coin Set (item # 158117).
We decided to selectively gold plate both the 1908 2 oz. 1 Cent and 1911 2 oz. 1 Cent Canada coins in your set, which means that the background (within the center portion) is now also gold-plated.

More gold is always nice.:)

Yes, the RCM also mentioned "at no additional cost"

When saw the set available at RCM (couple of days ago) - cancelled it. Yes, bit sad, but with this availability, it will be possible to get it for less (if I will need it that time).

This is a beautiful set. But I too am considering cancelling my order and getting it cheaper on the secondary market.

It's too bad. If the mint would have produced less of these it could have been a huge hit. But of course, they don't care as long as they're not taking the hit.

I bailed a couple weeks ago. Just couldn't see the point in celebrating the 5th anniversary of the last circulation penny. If they added the first queen Elisabeth effigy it would have been harder for me to pull the pin.

I cancelled my set but I might re-order it if the RCM does a promo towards Christmas.
