Item description (complete)

THESE BEAUTIFUL FINE SILVER CANADIAN DINOSAURS: 2013 $20 BATHYGNATHUS BOREALIS MINTAGE 4445/ 8500 & 2009 $4 TYRANNOSAURUS REX MINTAGE 00258/20,000. THIS COIN COMES WITH ITS ORIGINAL CASE AND BOX.CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY.

My best attempt at showing the discolouration. Sorry, not much of a photographer. Also note that it came in a damaged, unlabelled sleeve instead of the original box.

OK. Apparently the appeals have been decided in our favour. The person I spoke to this time said that it should have been decided in our favour the first time as the discolouration/damage is not mentioned in the listing anywhere as you see above. Personally I suspect the person who first closed the cases got them just as their shift ended and didn't even bother looking at the listings but that's a personal opinion. The person I spoke to this time also said that, to his knowledge, there are no specific exceptions to the Moneyback Guarantee. So the first person was doubly incorrect by citing one as the reason for dismissing the return request.

On a separate note, you basically have to lie to ebay to get through to a real person to actually make the appeal. I couldn't find anyway to submit it online and using the Contact Us option wouldn't even give me a phone # for any option I tried related to return requests or damaged items. Then the automated answer phone system just looped me around when I used the word 'Appeal'.

@edweather - Yes. In total we bought 7 lots (13 coins). So easy enough to leave a couple of negatives when the returns were refused by the seller and still have a few more in reserve.

Funnily enough, we've bought from this seller half a dozen times before with a total spend of a couple of thousand without trouble. But instead of admitting a mistake this time the seller went into deny/deflect mode, burned a few bridges and then called in napalm strikes on the rubble. One can always hope that upon reflection they will recognize how much it has cost them and do better with their next disgruntled customer. Which won't be us of course. If you make a mistake and fix it we don't blame you and continue to buy. If you make a mistake and make no effort to fix it then we don't ever go back.

Glad to see they reversed themselves. If they hadn't it would have represented a significant change in their policy. In the past a significantly not as described has always resulted in an automatic finding in the buyers favor. (This is why we say there is no such thing as "No Returns" on ebay.)

I'm glad you won your appeal based on the box not being the original box and that the seller is a no returns seller, but as far as the coin I don't see any difference from the seller's photo and your photo. The discoloration is in the seller's photo. Again, not saying a return shouldn't have been granted. Just pointing out that detail as I see it.
