I was thinking if there was a True View of it, you could at least see if it were the same coin, but there isn't, so......no!
Even if there were, I would still say no.

If anyone disagrees, feel free to ask the TPGs this question.

Interesting ... are the opinions being posted

Yes .. of course when the coin is busted out of the holder ..it is no longer slabbed.

But in many .. or most cases ... the grade of the coin has not changed.

For example if you had a solid NGC XF 45 Seated Liberty dollar.
You bust it out and tape the label to the back of the album.

If you decide to sell ..maybe for a upgrade. The label and slab number,
so that the picture can be checked, should help to verify the grade.

All I am saying is keeping the label ... can't hurt.

If the coin was removed to be put in a an album and then someone was selling it and the coin had distinguishing marks, or toning on the coin that matched the marks or toning on file with the company that graded it then maybe it would be worth buying. But to me taking a coin out of a slab because the slab is scratched is a red flag. Why not sell it in the slab and then let the buyer decide if they want to resubmit it to be reslabbed, or break it out.

The other problem I have with this is that even if the story is true, and this is the coin that was graded 67. Who is to say that it is still a 67. What if it was handled or dropped since being opened and the grade won't be lower if the buyer decides to resubmit it?

I agree ..with coins like this Franklin, and most any Modern proof.
Proofs like these are easily damaged. Even if it was still in the
holder ... scratched holder ... I would suspect the grade.

All I am suggesting is it is not always the case. With older classic coins
it might be worth keeping the label.

Remember, the question was "Is a PCGS coin removed from the holder still considered a certified coin?"

The answer is no, it is no longer a certified coin.

Again, ask the TPG how they feel.
