I have put so much work into gettig ready for tomorrow. Booked the spot for Sunday. 10 x10 w/3 8 ft tables for $25.00. Took an ad out in the paper advertising 50's-60's antiques.
This morning it starts raining, by lunch it pouring so hard I couldn't see the street when I left work to get lunch. after I got home it said we had almost 3" in. of rain in some spots.
I called the flea market office after lunch today and expressed my concern. I said 'I understand your no refund policy, but this is not a fact of me not wanting to set up or a case of it looks like it may rain. this is a small typhoon and I can't imagine anyone will be set up or attend for that matter. She said "I don't care what its doin' or what its supposed to do out there. I'm not the dog gone wheather man and no refunds mean no refunds period. you can pay again and set up another week". So I guess I'll pay for another Sunday. I also had a ad in the paper that cost $21.00. I'm glad I didn't need that $46.00.
Rest in Peace

grovey,

As cold as it may sound. You will find most flea markets operate that way. Sorry for all your problems.

Yeah, Gil, I'm afraid catman is right. Chalk it up to a cost of doing business. I suppose the lady could have been a little more diplomatic, however.

Reminds me of a major yard sale I had planned a couple years ago. I had worked for weeks on its preparation and come the week of the big sale, I did nothing else but get everything ready. I had a big tent out, every table, sawhorse, and flat surface I could get my hands on, and worked past midnight getting everything outside, tagged, covered, and ready to start at 9AM the next morning. Then the National Weather Service said, "Yes, indeedy, people, Hurricane Isabel is gonna hit close to home.". So, I went back outside, took everything off the tables and either put them back into the tent or took them inside. Isabel only dumped a lot of rain and went through quickly, so I was up at oh-dark-hundred (0500) putting it all back together for the start time of 9AM. Never made it: people started showing up at 6AM and by 9AM, I was half sold out, the yard was a sea of mud, and I was highly disorganized. Closed it all down by noon and went back to bed after selling 95% of everything I had put out.

Cookies crumble in strange ways.
