Just something I picked up on Saturday.
I'm posting this to remind myself why I like visiting dealers and shows: I can look at a coin and decide whether it's good in 5 seconds.

This one I picked up for all of 65 cents--try that on ebay!

Thanks...I had to post this, I'm quite happy. It's actually more reflective in person--a very lustrous brown.

Wow. Especially the reverse. Comparatively, this one is MS-62 RB. Yours is very close.

No you won't find this on ebay at 65c (first of all you'd pay far more for S/H).

Snaz--yes, I'm actually serious. I gave him a dollar and left with the coin and change.

Kurt, did you check your change before leaving it on the counter?

You never know... a dealer giving away such rarity for 65c could have given you some change worth a lot more than 35c.

But you are right that would be another story.

Ah--gotcha. Well, I also sold these coins from the same dealer--and I kept a few for myself. Dealers here generally don't look too hard at Canadian coins. I also picked up 8 1949 "A to denticle" cents in VF-AU (at 25-75 cents apiece).

C_C, that is Coops "stomping grounds", too.
KurtS, I am down to one '22, two '23's, and the '36, to fill both albums.

Thanks! Marc, you might have a chance in PHX because a lot of "snowbirds" moved there...maybe they brought some good stuff with them? Snaz--yeah, I lucked out and guess why? It's because Krause does not mention the '49AT 1c, and most dealers here don't have a Charlton or Charest catalogue. Still, I cannot explain why so many of those '49s are here.

Dick, you're getting close! I couldn't find any more 22-23 at my last visit; I'll check my other source.
