Earle42 Bedrock of the Community United States 10047 Posts	Posted 11/22/2016 10:39 pm I remember as a kid finding a similar thing and, for some reason , I decided to peel off the extra rim. Mine was a bezel of some sort. I have some experience with Dryer Coins: http://goccf.com/t/143863 I have never seen a zinc penny as a Dryer Coin, so cannot say for sure if yours, being zinc, is typical of what would happen to a zinc cent. If this were a copper cent with this same amount of tumbling. I think the rim still would be more erect rather than curling over so completely onto edge lettering. (tapped on the edge of the coin with an inverted spoon to roll over the edge of the coin) I would expect a Dryer Coin to have the faces of the coin scratched up a bit more.
