They're never going to bring back metal with intrinsic value, so I'd rather carry paper money than the kind of massive dollar amount in heavy coins you end up toting around in countries with $1 and $2 coins. I just cannot envision it happening either since current coin styles and denominations undergo thorough preliminary deliberations of current economic conditions to best accommodate the public's use of any coin, old or new. jaxenro Pillar of the Community United States 533 Posts	Posted 11/26/2016 10:39 am Most coins I get I keep in a bag in the car in case I go through a drive through or something. I never carry any in my pocket. When the bag fills up I run them through a machine to get paper I can change into real (silver) coinage. Bringing back Gold isn't realistic since the price per ounce is so high that a $20 gold piece would be microscopic. Silver, by contrast, works great right now for high denomination coins since the metal value is around $15/ounce give or take.
