bobisgr8 Valued Member United States 54 Posts	Posted 11/26/2016 3:05 pm Hi all, Apologies for my ignorance, but is this a 5 or 10 ruble coin, or maybe something else? I realize it is quite worn but would be appreciate of anyone hazarding an estimate as to its grade. I also apologize for the lack of focus in parts of the images....I need to work on those skills. The coin is about 2.4 cm in diameter and has a mass of 6.3 g. Thanks in advance. Report this Post to the Staff

moxking Rest in Peace United States 17900 Posts	Posted 11/26/2016 5:52 pm This has many of the tell tale signs of a cast coin - loss of detail, blending between the fields and elements, and granular surfaces being the most obvious. realeswatcher Pillar of the Community United States 1962 Posts	Posted 12/08/2016 6:17 pm I don't know Russian gold much at all, but from experience with Spanish gold (often mounted), this looks like an ex-jewelry piece that has "sweated" a moderate amount. There are definitely (removed) mount marks at 3 and 6 on the bust side... and 3 and 6 on the crest side... and probably also at the other two expected spots. Report this Post to the Staff
