The only people I befriend on my Facebook are people who I knew in elementary school or high school and, of course, family members. Anyone else? I'll call you.
I was very successful in finding whoever I wanted to from that time. One person I could never find was Billy Kearney. He was a good friend of mine from the time I was five. We grew up playing baseball together. We hung out after school together all the time.
Billy was a good person growing up. He was 6'2" by the time he was ten years old. Even with that size advantage, he never bullied anyone in elementary or high school. He grew taller and taller and also was very well built. He used these attributes to get a football scholarship to be an offensive lineman at a decent university.
I saw him a few times after that, but lost touch after I moved out of state. There was no Facebook back then, so I never knew what happened to him. When I finally opened an account, he was one of the first people I sought to find. I never found an account in his name. Maybe he wasn't a Facebook guy.
Then, yesterday, I was talking to this girl I liked in high school. I, eventually, ask her about Billy. I was hoping she had his phone number, so I could just say hi to him. She told me he had gone to prison and was going to be there for a long time. I was shocked. I did not believe it. I thought she was joking because she knew how close Billy and I were back in the day.
She assured me she wasn't. I asked her what he was in prison for. She stated it had something to do with coins. I was like, "Coins?"
Tonight I tried to find out what happened to my friend. Here is what I discovered.
2nd Circuit Upholds Fraud Convictions, Coin Experts' Testimony:http://www.lexislegalnews.com/artic...ts-testimonyHow Joseph Romano went from coin fraud to hiring a hit man:http://www.cnbc.com/2014/02/27/how-...hit-man.htmlI hope Billy is able to put his life back together after this. I think he got caught up in the money and wound up with the wrong crowd after college. Too bad. He was raised better. I knew his mother and father growing up and they were good and honorable people. That is why my family never had a problem with me going to Billy's house to hang out.
I don't know what else to say. Goodnight.
