I have to agree that modern top pops are a manufactured and very thin market. I'm not one to pay $1000 for a coin minted five years ago.

Manufactured rarity is correct. A real rarity is a coin with 10 known to exist in total. I have a Civil War Token that fits that description.

My take on your question....

First - grading is subjective. The grade populations are NOT true/correct/accurate - as many coins have been resubmitted, some MULTIPLE times, because $$ is the motive.

Second - LEARN the series you are collecting. KNOW the difference between a 65/6/7/etc....base that on what slabbed coins look like from the three top TPG's, online grading guides (picture guides), and any reference material specific to the series you are collecting.
