Hi,
I have a Canadian 1 cent from 1945. The 5 in the date is there but not raised up at all and is very faint.
Any ideas anything about it?

Lets have some pics of both sides. Someone will be able to help you.

Seth Gold Without seeing the coin, the options include: Filled Die, Wear, and Damage. We could narrow it down if you are able to take a picture.

Nice! Looks like a filled die was the issue.

Awesome! Thanks everyone for the quick replies. Is this a common error you find?

If I remember correctly it's relatively common in the 1940s years.

Looks like the stem of the right leaf has the same issue.

Nice find, Seth! In my experience you see a faint final digit on the 1943's and 1945's often enough, but you can find them on the '38's and '39's as well. Other years have them but not so common. Also check for missing details around the rim on the reverse, those ones are usually paired with missing details on the obverse as well. Good eye for finding that one!
