Yes it is true. And also with Whitman Albums. This happens when you put the Albums in a fire, place outside in the rain and snow, bury in a pile of compose or even store in your stoves oven. If you place one on top of a Bar-B-Que grill and light the grill, the coins may also be damaged

That was good! Now I'm paranoid. First time user of Dansco. Instead of sinking $10,000 into coin, I'll be constructing a "Clean Room" nlp

the only "damage" I have noticed with coins in danscos are slight darkening of the color of copper coins. its slight enough that RD cents dont get to the RB, at least not yet, and ive had some of them in there for 15 years. I bet its humidity that sneaks in anyway. new albums are made to avoid damage, but older albums from before the 70s or so were not chemically engineered to avoid discoloration. in these albums, coins will change color, sometimes to interesting tones like blues and purples, but this toning is widely accepted as natural and even attractive.

I have notice hazing to my clad coins and tarnish to my silver coins that I purchase in Dansco albums in the mid 80s. Is it possible that the coins were dipped prior to my purchase instead of environmental or album damage?

Anything is possible. More than likely though your coins have been exposed to something in the invironment where they are stored. Numersous air born substances effect metals in many different ways so without knowing where, how and with what your coins are stored, it is difficult to ascetain the reason for any hazing or tarnishing.
Many individuals store coins in an air proof container or fairly air resistant. However, they seldom take into account what was in that container when closed. Many other possibilities but I highly doubt the Dansco Album had much to do with those effects.
