Could use some schooling on lamination errors. Any advice? I found this nickel today, but I am not really sure if its a lamination problem. The other coin I found in a penny roll toady and just wanted to share it with everyone. I thought it was cool! And wish I were there right about now.

I'm not seeing anything unusual with the nickel, a long scratch in front of face on a well circulated coin is all. Might point out what you question on the nickel.

Looks like a nice start on contemporary foreign coin collecting!

Also use the search tab above to search for "laminations", I use that a lot, learn so much my brain hurts!

The nickel feels like feldspar when you rub it and doesn't have that shine like all the others. Thanks for the advise I will do that.

My geologically inclined friend - how many people do you suppose know what feldspar is?

cldague - You are right, that second cent is really cool looking - thanks for sharing it.

I don't see any lamination problem with the nickel.
Moxking was quite correct - I had to look up Feldspar "silk-matte quality that feels like watercut stone to the touch". It's good to expand my vocabulary :)

However, from its appearance it would seem rough to the touch. A lamination would represent the same thing - rough surface and sometimes parts of the laminations are peeling away or gone all together.
