Phil,

My research work was started long ago. A descriptive narrative was the best I knew. Today, they are
no comparassion to photographs. But I think they are still fun to do.

Another glitch I had to resolve is identifying descriptions. An ensample are the denticles. The denticle at
6 o'clock has a definite right and left side. But going around the token, especially at 12 o'clock we encounter
problems. I determined that denticles and rosettes are individually described when rotating the token in such a
manner as to have the item in question always viewed from the 6 o'clock position.

Another helpful decision was to identify the 'cant' of the numerals by identifying an imaginary line from the token
to the initials below the ground. The top of the numeral 7 is designated by an imaginary line to the right Rosette.

etal.

Another tid-bit. This is a work in progress. Your token is from a later die-state that any I have seen. Many exhibit
the normal Die-Crack to the P in PENNY. But the crack on yours exits the P and arcs above the EN to the 2nd N. My work
has been updated to include this extension. Thanks. And when the time comes, perhaps your photo of this crack can be
used as a terminal ensample.

And there is more...

Have fun...

FYI

Doctor Courteau's tome is not for the faint of heart. However, this was the Bible in the
pioneering days of Canadian Numismatics. Below is an exact quote taken from Courteau's work
on variety 80.

80. Obv. Perfect foot. Fig 2 close to 5, with its left closer to teeth around border than
its right. A lump below horse's l. hoof. Perf. and brok. dies, cracks to BFR and last A.

Rev. Same as No. 79, but in some cases with additional die cracks, especially thro LF. R.5.

well, what is variety 79...

79.
Rev. Same as No. 78. Generally with a diagonal die-crack to letter P. R.1.

well, what is variety 78...

78.
Rev. The U.J. outline below letters is heavy, only the upper part of St. Andrews cross frame
shows below E. With several die-cracks, especially thro. F. and thro. N of TOKEN. In some
cases only the former shows. R.3.

Just thought this might be entertaining.
