This turned out to be a prophetic link. I posted on Friday about losing my Hadrian denarius. That same night I got out some boxes of coins I pulled from circulation back in 1984 and 1985. Most of them are in 2x2 flips, now yellowed with age, although the coins are fine in them.

I was sitting in my comfy living room chair and took out a 1970-D Lincoln Cent. As I did so the brittle flip cracked apart in my hand and the BU Lincoln disappeared down the crack between the cushion and the arm of the chair.

Now I'm out the 15 cents I paid for it in 1984.

Maybe it's time to put those coins in new holders.

When I was a kid, I lost a steel penny outside when I accidentally dropped it.

The Story of the Lost Coins:

I was visiting elderly mom for about
a week, just to spend some quality time with her.
During that time I decided to document the whole of my collection.
Two coins in the collection included an English Crown of Charles 11, and an Indian silver square rupee of Shah Jahan of the Mughal Empire.
Somehow, I managed to mislay them, and after futile hours of searching in my collection, I was forced to give up.
Mom died a couple of years later.
When preparing the house for sale, both coins, which had dropped silently on the thick carpet behind the couch were eventually found, and re included in my collection.

I returned from holiday in Israel in 1988 and laid out the coins I'd saved from my change on the window sill in my bedroom, ready to put them in my collection. When I came to put them in 2x2s a week or so later, one of the coins - a 1987 'Hanukkah' shequel - was missing. I suspect that my cat jumped onto the windowsill and knocked it onto the floor where I unwittingly vacuumed it up! I searched the room but never found it.

My lost coin story, is about a 1901 P Barber quarter and it's sojourn in the USPS. After 2-3 weeks we called it lost and the seller refunded my money.
Then, lo-and-behold, over a month after it was mailed, the Barber is delivered to my door. I contacted the seller and told him I had the coin and he could issue me a new invoice. Happy ending for both of us.

Last year I had a chest of world coins, and I left it on a shelf for several months. Then, when we moved temporarily I went looking for the chest but to no avail. It might have been packed away but no one recalls doing so. It will probably get found sooner or later.
Rest in Peace

It's probably at the bottom of a box. Have you unpacked everything? I hope you find them.

@AgcoinAu, I read this post a long time ago and I would like to state that I think of you every time I have people over and show them my coins. You, a man I know not, has had an astounding affect on my life. :) Did you ever find them?
