I think it is a 1922 D with the D tooled off. There looks to be a profusion of short scratches in the area of the mint mark I think the O in One is from a Grease Filled DieI also think it has been cleaned and treated in something. But I think a lot of things. |

 It does not look right. Pictures do not show the details very well. I do not see the die markers for a die #2. I don't see the markers for die 1,3 or 4 either. |

Yes, I can agree that it's probably a 22 D with the D removed.

Is this supposed to be a weak D variety or something? I can even see the D in the picture.

Looks like a casting that has been "worked" on to clean up the surfaces so it resembles a real cent. See how the surfaces has pits, looks like that was from the sand mold.

Admit it doesn't exhibit the right combo of details, but the color and circulation marks seem too good for a shaved D or cast coin. It's quite remarkable.
