These reps are on commissions they generally invite you to join when you spend too much at the RCM, like over 5000 bucks, not to be crass but why would they bother with someone wanting to order a 2.50 items.

John, I feel that anyone spending too much @ RCM has, literally, earned the entitlement to feel that RCM reps are working for him or her. Not the other way 'round. For example, what precisely are the terms of service? If one didn't write them, then it's hard to be surprised when they sound like they were written by the boss of you. One of two ways to fix this sort of problem: stop spending too much. Or, get better service. When they need customers it will seem like they want your business.

onecad, do you know if reps are typically the staff we might be speaking to when we call to place an order? I ask because I spoke with both a Lance and a John recently, trying to get some clarity on the 10pack cup coins and got the distinct impression from both that this order was not significant to them. They were both polite. No one has offered me the service of a rep, fyi. Wondering if as experienced salespeople (the kind who know who's just kicking tires vs. the real deal "serious buyer") reps are discerning about who they invite to be represented or just something else?

I think commissioned reps also works as customer service reps on the phone. In between new releases, there is little work for them. I remember someone on this forum saying they wanted a rep and the customer service person they were talking to on the phone offer themselves as a rep.

Its possible reps get a base salary, in addition to commission.

There is no terms of service for reps, you spend a lot in a year, they will contact you, but in the last couple years with no really hot coins, really very little benefits from a rep.

I think they flag people who spend a lot of money at the RCM, not necessarily $5000.

I got my rep when I bought a few of the 1912-1914 Bank of Canada Gold Hoard coins. I bought around $2000 of the coins. A few weeks later I got an email and then a phone call from a rep asking how he can help me. He ask me about my coin preferences.

So, if you bought a Kilo coin or other high ticket item, there is a good chance you will get a rep, one way or another. Buying $2.50 coins certainly won't get you a rep.
