I don't know about your theory on the resin , but who the heck took bites out of that coin ?

I do not think it left the mint with glue/resin on it. The obverse looks like PSD. John1

If you are talking about the lines or fine grooves ,That looks like die flow from a late stage die, The resin might be glue. Put it in some acetone and it should come off.

The reverse looks like Elmer's glue on the coin. The obverse looks damaged. The edge appears damaged as well. So it is a silver coin, worth silver melt at this point.

Try placing a single layer of tissue on the reverse area to see if that is silver or not? If it is a darker color, it maybe something else on the coin. A closer view of that area would be nice also.

Sorry Coop the feathers of the wings left and right appear double. Also the first picture in this last batch left side under the reed the part of the first tail feather is very sharp.
