this is one of my very few purchases from last night's auction, it has an excellent strike, more mirrored fields than the true view pictures suggest, and a great cameo not often encountered on this date. a true gem that I was very pleased to add to my collection. that spot under the date is almost unnoticeable in hand and isn't much of a distraction..PCGS PL-67

Beautiful coin.
58's IMO are inherently ugly, but not that one.
The heavy cameo, mirror fields and great strike quality make the ugly reverse design seem more palatable.

The best I have seen of this type.
Is that just a light reflection thing in 'REGINA' ?

i did an auction lot viewing before the auction and bid on the floor and picked it up at the end of the auction

although I like the design, I have never found an example that met my standards haha, they seem to never have a noticeable cameo, even on ICCS heave cameo designated examples..and on the issue of strike, like most years of Elizabeth PL dollars, they always have planchet porosity on the hair and shoulder and reverse design elements, this one has as little as I can recall ever seeing..on another note, it is leaps and bounds nicer than the PCGS PL-68 example, which has major planchet issues that show through the strike.

i would be lying if I said it wasn't the best example I have seen as well, and yes, that is only a reflection

to the rest of you: thanks so much! I'm glad you all like it as much as I do

To be honest Thedollarman, I believe that this coin is worthy of a resubmission. It is such a pristine example and I believe that little mark you mention is just remnant of something stuck on the coin. Looking at the 68, this coin deserves a 69 if not 70. Was a pleasure to bid with you on the auction floor perhaps next time I have to bid against you :)

thanks Apitrix! it was a pleasure to bid along side you and a relief to not bid against you I enjoyed it and can't wait for our next show together I think I may do one of those re-submissions where they cover the grade and upgrade it if they call it higher than the current grade..comparing to the PL68, this is a PL-71 lol.

That is a very nice PL Dollar you picked up thedollarman.
Great cameo, I did not see the cameo designation but it
sure is obvious. A low population. Great coin.
