This coin arrived today and I am quite pleased....needless to say, it was not cheap.

Care to take a guess at what PCGS graded it?

MS64RB. Light is bright and cannot see entirety of surfaces but I see a smattering of small marks to the left of the headband with LIBERTY. Beautiful. Let us know what you paid when you reveal the TPG grade. Congratulations!

I'll guess you paid $2K.

Full 64. I would not be surprised if it got the Full Red designation.

52Raymo, I'm nt an expert on this series. Would you share your opinion for why this is a 63 and not a 64 in your eyes? Thanks in advance.

Just from looking at so many Indians that I personally thought was 64-65 and they would invariably be 63's. A red designation is tough, any darkening at all and its RB.

I'm no expert and after I posted I noticed it was RedRaider...he a playah so it very well could be a 64-65.

Here is the reveal.....Its in a PCGS MS64RD holder. The variety is not attributed on the holder, but it is the very scarce Shallow N reverse. I have difficulty taking pictures of RD copper, but this coin is a glowing full red color.

PCGS has a pop of 1/0 in that grade right now and I could only find 2 sales of an MS64RD 1872 shallow N. They sold for $12,500 and $18,000 respectively. While I paid a lot for it, its value is considerably more.

Heritage has never offered a full Red 1872 shallow N.

Im going to send it back to PCGS to add the designation to the holder and attempt to get a + on the grade.
