I am looking on upgrading my metal detector. I have a discovery 1100. I am not in a place where I would go hunting for gold nuggets, but would like to be able to get hits on small jewelry. The reviews are all over the place. Garret, fisher, etc. any opinions? Looking in the $300-$500 range. Also a decent hand pointer.

A 'Ghost Town' is an abandoned town, no longer inhabited.
Picture a small mining town from the Old West days.
Rest in Peace

I have the BountyHunter Tracker IV, ive found tons of stuff. My property isn't too big or old, but I pulled a silver roosie out over by an older tree that was a good 3-4 inches down. I also found a 1942 dated .30-06 fired rifle cartridge... that was an odd find lol. We have an abandoned railroad that ran straight through town so I've also found my fair share of railroad artifacts lol.

I bought a Bounty Hunter "Time Ranger" awhile ago and I really like all the features and settings it has on it for a detector for around 200$. You can set it to only find certain metals, and cancel steel bottle caps and old pull tabs. Plus the big on screen data shows what you may be finding, like quarter, cent, silver, nickel, and if you are lucky, gold. Plus it shows how deep the object is. Took me a little while how to figure out all the settings and how to use it but it's really alot of fun and does the job as good or better than more expensive models.
Comes with large and small coil, underwater coil operation too.
Here's what the readout and settings screen look like:

How are you going with the hunt to find a detector you can use for gold,I use Minelab detectors for all my nugget hunting but these maybe out of your price range brand new so I sagest second hand SD2200,GPX Extream or even if you can afford it a GPX4000.
found with a 4000 but could have been found with any detector
