For the year 69 there seems to be vast numbers of this types of error or creations, still the double dates are cool

Yes back in those years things were fabricated by mint employs and these were mentioned as well as the 1967 dollar and 50 cent coins

Thanks for posting these. I have a great interest in these flipped strikes and wanted to see how they looked in the holders close up. The best place to find information on these and price are in the Heritage auction archives on what sold there. Just curious on the populations of theses flipped strikes.

I'm not sure of mintage or pricing I never tried to sell them I have had these for several years and I do see them around once in awhile for resale. I think I paid around $200.00 for each coin in raw condition at the time. I never got them graded until a few years back I wanted them in a hard slab for protection of nicks and scratches. Happy Hunting

those are 2 very nice examples..thank you for sharing, I've always loved these even if they aren't true errors but rather the result of fun time at the mint.
Feel free to call me Will.

I love these cents! I used to own a couple similar to these.
The first coin is mislabelled in the holder. It is a beautiful double strike coin with both dates clearly visible, but it is not flipped (I.e., the coin did not flip over between the two strikes).

Thank you Scissel you are correct I made note of it and blacked out the flip strike. It was mentioned to me by Spp a couple of years ago and I went back to work and totally forgot about it until you brought it back up.

Very nice papeldog! I regret selling mine after looking at yours. They look so good in CCCS hard slab!

They are lovely coins.
I want to dispel the myth that these are common. They're not. And the really nice ones are that much scarcer.
It's just that the small cent error collector pool is very small, so that collectors like myself can have 8 of these without much effort.

That was part of the reason that I put them in a hard slab so further damage didn't happen to them as they were completely red when I purchased them years ago. But through the years they started to tone I wish I would have got them in the hard slab earlier when they were still red

Quote: ..got them in the hard slab earlier when they were still red From what Rob has said,..they will eventually go RB and then BN.. I've seen that already happen with some of my large cents unfortunately.. Being in a fairly damp climate does not help at all. Now if all of our cents were down in Nevada etc..we would have a better chance at keeping the Red for a much longer time.. Coating them in a clear lacquer also helps a lot. I did get to see an amazing 29 SP cent last year that was graded by PCGS but also had a heavy clear coat on it.. It looked as if was struck yesterday. I think that it was graded 66 or 66+ and Red..and was purchased in the 5 figures.. It was as perfect as perfect can be..So some will stay red if the right steps are taken..
