I found it in one of the lots I bought last year for about 5$, and wondering about condition / value ? VF + ?

Five dollars? Wow, very nice find! I have never really graded one of these before, but I will give it a try anyways.

There looks to be no lustre left and obvious wear on the person's face, so I doubt it would reach EF. Even so, there are still a bit of details in the person's hair present, as well as all of his facial features. So yeah, I would agree with your guess of VF+; I am thinking VF-30.

As for value: I am not quite sure. With the error in the date, it should be worth a lot more than the five dollars you spent on it. I do not know how accurate NGC is with prices, but if it helps, the page to this coin can be found here. Again, very nice find!

So NGC has strange grades if this one from pictures in slab is XF45 (I compare mine and the slab one)

Interesting. The hair and eye details show obvious differences, but focusing just on the person's ear, I am thinking NGC's coin is weakly struck. The top of the ear and inside line look separated, whereas yours seems blended together. The jaw line on NGC's coin also looks much more apparent. Though the hair looks more detailed on your coin, I am seeing a discolouration on the top-front of it (indicating wear) that I am not seeing on the slabbed one, with leads me to believe your coin is more worn. But the main thing stopping me from grading your coin an EF-45 is the lack of lustre. NGC's coin looks like it could have some.

Hmm, this coin is difficult. I think yours is a lower grade than NGC's, but not by a lot. I would raise my previous guess to VF-35 based off NGC's example, mainly because my gut feeling is that it is not EF. If your coin were to grade EF-45 or higher, though, I would be surprised.

My initial thought was Good Fine for the obverse and VF for the reverse but looking at examples on http://www.ma-shops.com (see https://www.ma-shops.com/sesambestc...6718&lang=en and https://www.ma-shops.com/pegasus/it...467&lang=en), so I think Joseph7420 is right.

I send it to NGC for grade. Also, I was speaking with Mr Joseph Lang, he confirmed my supposition that it could be XF45, and my coin will appear on september auction on Stephen Album Rare Coins.

Bump.

I have searched for this coin on the auction you mentioned, but I have been unable to find it. If you do not mind me asking, how much did it sell for?

Fantastic find for a coin lot indeed. I'm not just curious about how much it sold for, but also which grade it got in the end?
