1853 Seated dime Arrows - dealer graded VF30 Image: seated1953Ob.jpg58.84 KB Image: seated1953Re.jpg59.37 KB 1891 Seated dime - dealer graded XF Image: 1891 seated.jpg27.39 KB I can't seem to decide which one to get!! They're from different dealers but priced at $25 They look worlds apart as far as the 'look' goes. 1891 looks dark and I don't like dark coins but I thought it looks sharp. Tell me what you think!!

I'd go for the '91. Neither is particularly rare, and the '53 seems worked. If you choose the '53, let me know because I'll grab the '91. :)

I'd go for the '53. If I'm given a choice between two items of relatively equal value, I'd pick the older just on principle.

I need one with arrows and one without arrows for a type set. But since they'll be sitting next to each other I want them to be similar looking. But these 2 looks different from each other to ME. Do you think their grades are accurate?

No. Neither of them, IMO, exceed VF20, although the '91 stands a chance.

Hi Shatsi
Its tough to tell what either one really looks like ,, They were photographed under different lighting, and with different cameras.
for the price, if you can swing it buy both, if one or both dont meet with what you need or want, I think there are some Dime guys around the forum that would like them !!!

Shatsi,
If I had to choose between the two I would go with the 1853. The 1891 looks like it has problems on the lower reverse. Maybe a very poor reverse strike maybe a old cleaning to cover something up. The coin is far to dark and you may be buying trouble. Just my opinion.

I grade the 1853 as VF20. The 1891 looks like it may well be EF40. It's a little difficult to tell from the angle and lighting. It may be the lighting in the 1891 pic, but I get a cleaned/retoned feeling from it. The 1853 definitely looks all original.

I've contacted them for better pics but haven't heard from them yet.
