This won't be a money-maker for speculators

Quote: There's no shortage of these available for any dealer that wants inventory and it just isn't worth it from a time or financial standpoint for the big boys to reload on that one barring a big upswing in their market. I know there are some people waiting to see what happens with mintage numbers on this one before making a purchase. So not re-load - just initial purchase. They did the same thing with that national park medal last year (I think it was national park - I didn't chase it in any case).

Going to add on to my previous prediction of a quick sellout on these. I still think they go pretty fast but I predict prices to remain flat on the secondary market. I think those lucky few that flip off their couple early can make a little. But I foresee extremely short legs on this. Once the flippers flood the market with these I think we see that there's just not enough people collecting this series to take up that inventory. With an extremely limited first issue and an overpriced second year leading to a costly 4-medal set I see this as a long-term lose and likely selling for $100 in a few years.

Yes some people did get some of the National Park gold commemorative coins last year for being the lowest mintage in the series speculating that it would be the key. The difference though is that was a coin this is a medal. Even if you ignore the major difference of medal vs coin last years medal was the key at 12,500 pieces so you wont be seeing anyone chasing a potential key. It will continue to have its small sales every week like everything does, but something would need to drastically change for big time orders to come in towards the end. You can also already find the medal right at or under issue price on ebay for the raw ones and graded 69s.

The description has now been updated:
The proof medal carries the S mint mark of San Francisco The reverse proof medal carries the P mint mark of Philadelphia The uncirculated medal carries the D mint mark of Denver The enhanced uncirculated medal carries the W mint mark of West Point
This means these are all confirmed now to be different than the earlier released stand-alone P proof medal.

So, for those collecting these silver medal, they have to get the 4 coins set + the stand-alone (and vice versa). This will sure boost the sale # of the stand-alone medal.

I agree...and it will tempt some folks to hunt for the 2 very limited issues from last year as well.

Of course, some of us already have those three to go with these four.

So looks like this will be the next release for the US mint. Same product limit and HH limit as the 2017 LESPS. Think we'll have a repeat with the HH limit lifted after a day and a quick sell out soon after?

Maybe...but these are medals not a set with a low mintage ASE... and... the first 2017 medal has been on sale for four months and is still a few thousand away from 50k sold
