I've tried searching high and low for a clear answer to these question so forgive me if this is common knowledge.

How can you tell if an S-mint Kennedy proof is silver or not? Is there any strong visual cue? Or is weighing it the only way?

turn it and look at the rim from the side. a clad will have a copper ring around the rim and silver coins are solid color all the way around.

If it is in an album or 2x2 (therefore not easy to view the edge), I put the coin under a bright light, then cover it with a piece of thin notebook paper or white tissue paper. The silver coins will reflect through whiter than the paper, the clad will reflect grayer.
