I've been neglecting my WW type set for a while which I mostly have built from coin mixtures. I recently bought a 4+lb mix for around $7 a pound (including shipping) and as I was sorting became quite pleased with my purchase.

Then I found this : Latvia KM1, 1928 1 santum in what looks to be a high AU state. ebay sales in similar state including postage run around $10. K&M prices are, as usual, much higher.

Tomorrow I'll post scans of some better, but not this good, coins from the lot. I haven't made a coin count yet, but figuring 100 +/_ coins per pound, this works out to be a bargain lot.

A rough count of new coins or definite improvements tally at just under 100 coin additions. Lots of traders, nice coins too.

Good find! As a WW collector for some time,I no longer find mixtures productive, unfortunately. I need to pick and choose.

Not sure I understand the parameters that would qualify a find for this thread? Anything in a mixed world lot? Bulk, poundage lots only?

This is one of my most visually pleasing hauls, scraped together from about 8 lots being sold as an "estate sale" ($200 for all of these and maybe 75 other coins)

No images, but I have found some Hutt River coins in poundage lots, and an exchange lot of Japanese Yen coins that turned out to be a collection; a full set of BU 50 and 100 yen (up to 1993) and every base metal commemorative from 1970-1998.

When I visited Hutt River in 2003 I tried very hard to get him to sell
me one of the coins out on display, but he wouldn't budge :)

I envisioned unexpected finds in bulk lots such as poundage mixtures or say 1000 worldwide coins. I realize this won't be an active thread. If you think your find might belong, then it does :)

oriole: I completely understand. This lot added 100+/- new coins or major improvements, much better than most I have purchased.

I've bought many many lbs of world coins, some are dud lots and others have yielded a good deal of $50+ coins. best I did was $100ish on a rare low grade portugal issue.

My avatar also came from a bulk lot. After a good deal of research I found it to be a challenge token from a high school fraternity from the turn of the century. 7 issued. not terribly valuable, but the history/story alone made it one of the most rewarding pieces I've come across.
