I am wondering about pen or marker or even pencil writing on a banknote, and how much that hurts the grade of the note.

For reference, I have posted a 1954 devil's face $20 note, in what I would consider VF to EF condition, not considering the pen. Given the markings, what would the note be downgraded to?

I was thinking a full grade, so F to VF, but wanted to get the opinion of the community.

Thanks!

It would get a net grade without Original / PPQ / EPQ. Those numbers plus two streaks are very noticible detractors imo.

Shame a DF too, your eyes fall on the pen mark every time.
