Yes you read the title correctly,
Keeping up with the recent LRB theme I thought this 1 was worth posting.
Apparently only a few known examples.
Obverse - DNVALENSPFAVG
Reverse - RESTITVTOR REIP
MM - PLVG - Lyon
RIC IX - 11b. Size - 18mm, Weight - 2.98g

Valens was something of a tragic figure (not that one ought to feel too sorry for any Roman emperor).

I find it interesting that this coin depicting the ruler of the Eastern Roman Empire, where so many mints were in operation, was struck in Gaul.

I love late Roman AE. They are among the least expensive of Roman coins and there are a limited number of types so you can hunt for things on a "want list" and hope to get a good selection. Here are examples like the OP coin but from different mints.
