Gold? Appears to be a bronze Judaean prutah of the Hasmonean or Herodian dynasties.

I agree not gold at all, and not Roman either. The coin is a Prutah from Judaea.

I going to alter the title a bit.

It might be a Judean coin issued by John Hyrcanus I, possibly the JH II. The obverse would be a double cornucopia with a pomegranate in between. The reverse is kind of rough so it is hard to tell. Go to wildwinds.com and/or get a copy of the David Hendin book.
