Very balanced (imo) new RCM item has been listed by Coins-4-Fun: 1987-2017 - Canada - 30th Anniversary of the Loonie - Pure Silver 2-Coin Setthe set includes Silver Loonie Dollar and Silver Voyageur Dollar in the Loonie format. Not bad idea, simple and traditional. Loonie collectors will be happy. Inexpensive as well.

The dollar coins are ok but not sure I'd call $80 for 1/4oz coins 'inexpensive'.
That said, I'd expect all 10k of the them to sell relatively quickly.

I compare with the usual RCM pricing, when the Silver loonie alone priced CAD 40. For example, the 25-th Anniversary in 2012 was priced ~CAD 40 (i might bit mistake, but this is the price range)

Afffordable, yes.
At 1/4oz, I assume these will be 27MM. Compare that to typical silver dollars that are 3/4oz and 36MM.
The last ltd. ed. SD w/ 10k mintage (2016) sold for $80. So price per ounce of $107 versus $160 for this new set. Light on silver content for the price IMO. Even worse if compared to regular SD issues that sell for $60 or $80/oz (though they have higher mintages; economies of scale). Of course, producing two coins certainly has more other input costs more than producing just one.
But on the other hand, they likely will approximate the current circulation loonie size (26.5MM) which could be seen as more accurate at least for the loonie design - not so much for the voyageur.
I should note, I'm guessing at the diameter and using second hand info that they weigh 1/4oz each so I could be mistaken.
Add that numismatics is not all about PM content which is why I think these will sell well for the Mint despite their weight/price.
The 2012 25th silver loon sold for $34.95 and was 1/4oz, 26.5MM with a mintage of 15K. That would make it quite comparable to the 2017 set but it's a very different collecting world just 5 years later.

Quote: the set includes Silver Loonie Dollar and Silver Voyageur Dollar in the Loonie format. Not bad idea Recall that the voyageur design was supposed to continue on Canada's small dollar when it was introduced in 1987. The master dies prepared with the voyageur design were lost, however, in transit between Ottawa and Winnipeg. Whether lost or stolen, the RCM decided to switch to a new reverse design for the coin so that the missing dies - if in the possession of someone with bad intentions - could not be used to create counterfeit dollar coins. The set could be considered another "Lost Designs" set in the same vein as the three-coin set with designs from 1927.

Correct observation, Commems. I didn't think about the set this way, and saw in it the aspect of "from Voyaugeur to Loonie"

If these are 1 oz gold coins with platinum highlights as stated above, then they must be bigger than the standard 26.5mm Loonies. A typical Loonie weighs 6.4 to 8.1 grams depending on metal content. 1 oz of gold weighs 28.35 grams (troy ounce weighs 31.1 grams).
If they are bigger, that bodes well for me since I restrict my Loonie collection to the standard 26.5mm Loonies. Having to spend an additional $5500 for two more Loonies would make this set out of range for me.

Standard 1oz gold maple leaf is 30MM so likely that will be used for this set. The silver set is apparently 27MM, not 26.5MM, so you can likely skip them too.

Just checked the 'confidential' new releases at the CP outlet and yes the gold versions with silver plating are 30 mm and 1oz each. While I missed what the mintage for the 1/2 ounce pair is expected to be, I'm on the fence as to whether to buy the set.
