ok I have to ask, What happened here? I mean it looks like someone simply scooped out a piece of the Reverse. This would be difficult to do without leaving other marks I would think (e.g. how was it held in place to do the scooping?)Then again notice how the right leg of the N in the larger anomaly is still visible after the "scoop" has already started.

It looks like damage to me Idacostya. Once a coin leaves the mint it's almost impossible to know with certainty what caused it.

Hahaha if I had to guess I'd say it was a sharp metal object that scooped it, maybe the tip of a shovel. It wouldn.t have had to be held in place, could've been laying on the ground and took a quick hit or two. Parts of devices were left because whatever scooped it, didn't penetrate that far in those areas.
