Quote: This reminds me of people paying more for a slabbed coin because it's labeled as coming from a particular mint product. IIRC there's been a few 2000 Sacagawea dollars slabbed as coming from a Cheerios set but otherwise normal (not having the variety).

You do remember correctly. That's at least an interesting attribution to the coin's history.

Ha, it's still just a regular Sacagawea dollar. What's next a NGC label stating the coin was touch by Donald trump or Madonna lol. This is getting stupid.

Before responding maybe it would be decent to do your research...the Cheerios Sac Dollar has a different reverse die which kinda makes it appropriate for attribution. Lame....do you REALLY think collectors sent in the whole box of cereal to get it attributed? Yup...getting stupid

Foxwoods, a minority of the Cheerios Sac Dollars did not have special reverse (nor special die polishing mark on the obverse). This is what january1may was talking about. PCGS and NGC slabbed them as being from the Cheerios promotion, but not the special variety.

Ok....I didn't follow the flow of the thread and assumed the lame comment was directed to all the Cheerios Sacs.... Take a step back and breathe....

Yup, this is getting stupid. Thanks for agreeing on my statement foxwoods man. That's probably what some did, send the whole box of cereal to get the coin graded lol. How else will they prove is from the cheerios promotion. Yup getting stupid. Collectors should just stop with this embarrassing fad already. What's next, a NGC label stating "minted on new years day". Or "minted on Monday" for those that like Mondays. Oh better not give the grading companies any ideas ha.

Quote: How else will they prove is from the cheerios promotion. They came sealed in this package. They can be designated as a high tail feather detail Cheerios dollar without being in the package, but not as a regular dollar from the Cheerios promotion without being in the original package.

Oh, ok. Still some collectors probably ship the whole cereal box thinking that's how they were supposed to ship it. Like the 20th anniversary silver eagle coins to get the black label they had to shippied unopen from the mint in the brown ups exterior box. I wonder if NGC, PCGS returned the cereal or ate it.

yes, like we said this is getting stupid with the label fad. And didn't the cereal box stated that there was a Sacagawea dollar inside? The cereal boxes usually have in the box if theres something inside. And your question if they will send random boxes of cereal. Probably yes, if they are willing to pay $4599 for a $20 coin then sending a cereal box is no big think for them. Funny but probably true. Label collectors will do anything weird or not. Many are still buying the 2015 P on ebay, they probably don't care if NGC,PCGS ends up saying the label is no longer valid, they just want the label to say it for some weird reason, so sending a cereal box? yes, they probably did.

Won't be surprise if some collectors still have this cereal boxes unopen and will try to sell them saying there could be a "rare" 2000 Sacagawea dollar inside. Like playing a lotto scratcher. I didn't knew about this cereal boxes back then. I started collecting around 1999 with the State Quarters. I was in the 8th grade. Where those time go ha.

Just for fun I was searching on ebay to see if anybody is selling an unopen sacagawea promotion cheerios box and found that there's listing for cheerios boxes from the 50's, 70's etc. Like why will anybody will want an old box of cereal for. And I tough coin collecting gets crazy at times. There's one that I remember seeing in stores, it has a toy story 2 dvd inside. Lol.
