If there are two many, I will ask a friend to give me a hand picking them up. I don't want to hurt myself. But yes, definitely worth picking up.

Quote: I know it depends on the person and if they are collecting IKEs. Just looking to see if it's worth collecting. It depends on what you mean by being "worth" it. Some people collect coins as an investment; some collect them because they like the look of a certain coin or find something fascinating about it. As UltraRant pointed out, Ikes are not a good investment vehicle. I don't collect them, but I do find them compelling because they're big and heavy--like a dollar coin should be! It's simply up to you and your taste as to whether or not it's worth collecting Ikes.

If you are looking for an investment then look elsewhere. The appeal to Ike's are the size and feel, not the value. They are the last of the big bucks and are fairly cheap to obtain. Occasionally a few pop up at the bank or currency exchanges and can be had for face value.
I wouldn't pay much more than face value for circulated Ike's but grab them when I find them.

The teller said she had some of the "gold" dollars, and then she said she had a few of "those really big and heavy ones." Sure enough, I walked away with some really big and heavy Ikes for face value.

I also like the brown Ike's, but rarely find them in my neck of the woods. I pick up silver eye-catching Ike's when I see them cheap at the LCS. Clad I leave alone.

Sure enough, I walked away with some really big and heavy Ikes for face value. I have had that too. My credit union (before I retired) used to get them occasionally. They knew me so called me whenever someone deposited anything they didn't recognize as common. I would get Ike's, halves, $2 bills etc. Even if it was worthless I took it and would spend it elsewhere, they were happy to be rid of it. A bank teller remembered me once and said she had 68 Ike's, I took them all and still have them. Again, not worth anything above face but I like them!

There are "investment grade" times out there such as any business strike ms67 and above or any proof 70. And varities like the 72 type II reverse or the night crawler. Also Some of the higher-end errors & toners. All else are just fun coins. If you don't know yet check out this website... http://www.ikegroup.info

Base metal Ikes obviously have little numismatic value in Australia. I have picked up one or two from from a dealer's junk box for for $1 (Australian) = 75 cents U.S.

Are they worth picking up? O:f course any coin that is difficult to get in change is worth it. Grab them before someone else does.
