@New1954

Let's face it. Silver costs $22 per ounce. And RCM charges $1,900 for that big piece (ok 14 pieces) of silver? Also, I don't like the design and format. Sorry.

About the 3-oz Whispering Maple Leaves, the maple leaves made of shiny triangles are just odd. I'm sure some people would like it, but not me.

Please also let me express my disapproval of the grow-in-the-dark coin. I don't like full painting on a coin. It looks like a toy. And the image itself is not I like.

Above are my personal opinions. I apologize if my opinions offended anyone.

In generally, I'm more picky to silver coins, because RCM makes more money out of it due to higher margin.

Sill, I will get the red enameled coin. I will buy at least three of them. Yes, the design has been repeated. But I like the design: clean, bold, and recognizable.

So what's my type? The most beautiful coin I have seen so far is this year's 1 oz Platinum Maple Leaf Forever. I will see if I can get one from Post Canada.

No offence taken. I did end my comment chuckling. You made me laugh. That is all. And I will add this:

Not going to lie, I didn't realize what makes the "Whispering Maple Leaves" appealing to me. Then I read your reply and .

I have the Geometry In Art coin series. That explains it.

yesOrNo posted the same, what I wrote here and there...

Our Mint with all the negative stuff is still good.
And the NCLT as well. But when became a lot of them, the design ideas went "level down".

I don't want our Provincial coins in the Zodiac style.
I want them similar to Queen Beasts series - bold and sharp design, affordable, enough for everyone. Proof / BU or Enamel - all good, just no gimmicks, please.

GITD - not a big fan of full colouration either but this newest 2 oz Parliament does capture that big annual celebration in the capital...so therefore its my favorite of all glow coins ever released and it will sell out rapidly.

Yes, the GITD Canada Day Coin is done very well. Especially the GITD fireworks.

It's a nice 'picture' albeit inaccurate (the huge Canada Day stage in front the Peace Tower is missing, lol) but as a coin? It's not my thing but thankfully, we don't all have to like the same designs.

I did order one "Glow-in-the-Dark Coin - Celebrating Canada" yesterday morning, when I had access to the product page with detailed images. I actually liked the artwork better now than when I first saw the thumbnails on ebay.

Yes, my opinions can easily change.

In the worst case, if I don't like this coin, I can give it to someone as a Christmas gift.

The time of 10:08 does work well for an aesthetic presentation of a clock face but also represents the time the 'fireworks' usually go off on Canada Day (typically just after10pm). Source: TCS description of the puzzle coin which btw also displays similar time on the clock face on the centre $50 FV coin and....bit of a mistake by RCM to not put this time of around 10 on the 2oz GITD Peace Tower clock face with fireworks IMHO......looks more like 5pm ?!? Or. lol.....12:25 from RCM product image....not 100% sure...

The Snowbirds fly-by depicted on the GITD coin generally occurs during the Parliament Hill noon show and typically around 12:25 or so. Sometimes a bit sooner, sometimes a bit later. Here is a pic from 2013:

July-2017-RCM-Release

In 2014, it was just after 12:45...

The time on the coin seems right to me since that's how the coin will be displayed most of the time. The Mint just likely used a stock photo and the clock displayed about 12:25. Nothing significant there IMO.

The fireworks start at 10PM sharp but would still be going at 10:08. That said, they would still be going at 10:18 or 10:19 etc. too.

I doubt there is anything more to the time on the clock than it displays well, especially since the Mint didn't use the time as a selling point. It they had built in some meaning, I think they would have used it in the product description. They might also have used a stock photo from previous years events that would show some time after 10pm on the Peace Tower clock.
