Quote: Total of 1513 wheats. Not even sure if I will look through them for better dates. I think that is a nice little haul of wheat cents. I also think I would have to make sure nothing really nice slipped by.

You at least made money since there was over a $100 worth of pennies and a it's a bonus to pull that many Wheaties out. Great Haul. Thanks for sharing!

That's a great report. Now go wash your hands! Back in 73, there wasn't as much hoopla over the minor doubled dies and rpm's as today so even though her husband may have been pulling the "better" ones before adding to this bulk hoard, there still might be some of the less popular varieties in there. Where are the bags of nickels? LOL

Quote: Where are the bags of nickels? LOL The lady did say she did have more coins. Some at home some in a bank box. And she said she would be back. Here is what I pulled out .. taking the rest to the bank Edit: The dates on the tubes are not what is in the tubes. And good to know a quart size ziplock holds about 1500 cents.

Like I said before GR58, I woulda been in cross-eyed heaven having the chance to scope out all 10,000 cents, much less those you're not dumping! Only once have I had an opportunity like that...story time anyone? If you're like my grandsons when story-time rears it's ugly head and the disease of exaggerated eye rolling happens, you should immediately stop reading before you too are infected...NOW! You have been WARNED! In a previous life as a collector, I purchased LWC's in bulk quantities from different sources just to find the truth about "unsearched" coins. After taking known chances of buying rolls, auction lots & bulk orders of 500/1000, I finally (oh, oh) "thought" I'd found a "motherlode" source. Advertised (key word...) as unsearched and described as being purchased from his customers at craft shows where he sold Civil War replicas, currency, replica flags and mini-cannons, pulled the trigger of chance and purchased a bag of 1000 for more than usual costs. Wow! The order gleaned 53% of 1909-1939's, including VDB's, the harder to find 31D,32D, & 33D's, a 22D, 26S, a bunch of 21S/23S's, very few late 50's D's or other "junk", you get the picture. Because of this, I thought (oh, oh, again!) go big or stay home, ordered TWO more @ $75.00 a pop plus shipping. Weelll...not so good this time. Gleaned a whopping 3% teens to thirties(all P mints) out of less than 2000 LWC! Oh, and had 13 rolls of EF 56D-58D mints(very few RPM). Now that was a real zonk! Boy was I snookered...cured of that addiction real fast! NOW I can use my new creation, this time for myself!

This package left St. Louis Hub scanned, then dropped off radar. Apparently some of my former collegues are wimps and dropped this 33lb 10oz package that had all seams taped and 2 directions of strapping tape...next time multi directional taping! All items requiring security should be mailed like this: And put at least one more round of strapping tape, remember, I WAS a Mail Carrier, many horror stories to tell

I understand that some would go ahead and search all the 10,000 cents ... For me the things is .. I pick up rolls and rolls of BU rolls from the 50's, 60's and 70's. I have many thousands of cents that I don't know if I will ever take time to search them. Cool part was I took the cents I did not keep to the bank today. There were $90... I kept out 1513 wheats .. and 800 in tubes. .. I was not the one who counted the three bags .. but looks like I spent $2.00 for 1513 Wheat cent ..

GR58...that poor old lady was robbed by you for $13.13! Shame on YOU! Sounds like your math is wrong 1513 + 800= 2313 with 100 cents to a dollar that would mean you paid $100 for $113.13. Give her the money back, Thief!

Same math .. I just said it a little different.
I said it looks like I paid $2.00 for $15.13 in wheat cents.
That is the $13.13 over the hundred I paid.
I had no idea there was that much over the $100 ....
If I see her again I can make it up to her ..
It might help me purchase more from her ...

Great find/search. Remember those copper memorials are worth keeping even for their melt value. $100.00 in copper Lincolns are worth $179.00 melt.

OMG have you scrutinized the bunch yet for die variety? Your pics make my eyes water..,where's my loop I'm going bonkers looking at the bags. What a find old boy brilliant. Keep us informed if you find any die variety I'm kinda jealous as Chase Bank has cut me down to 2 bricks a shipment " its a storage issue sir" Umpaqua Bank flat out told me after 4 bricks "no more" and they meant it. I closed my account with them, my options are to get to work finding other options (until they give me the bumsteer also) ha! Don't ya love the pains of getting bulk cents, I know its work but I still love tearing into bulk cents. Good luck on the Wheat's.
