1993 Lincon Cent Missing Li From Liberty

desertgem Pillar of the Community United States 860 Posts	Posted 04/23/2008 10:50 pm Must have been a lot of grease as a similar but not as dramatic effect occurred on the last digit of the date and maybe a little of the "IN". Was the VDB obliterated also from the bust? I couldn't tell from the photo. I just have a hard time thinking that grease would fill "LI" so completely, and it appears that none got on the B of BERTY. I would normally expect to see a partially filled B like the date. Very neat coin. If my name was Bert, I would be after it :) But stranger things have happened in the mint :) Jim Report this Post to the Staff

They are fairly common although they are a little more fun when specific letters are missing. Grease can fill any recess in the die so it is not uncommon for a single letter to be missing or for a few letters to be missing. Thanks, Bill Report this Post to the Staff
