I'm not quite sure its PSD. Was looking earlier about planchet errors, a split planchet or in this case a partial split/ big pre-strike lam error would have that rippled effect on obverse, making a thin planchet and partial strike error. Just wonderin'...on tablet now so quite limited in what I can figure out, always tamale.

Would that increase value? Would it be worth it to send it in?

I wouldn't suggest sending it in, first I would consult experts on error coins like Mike Diamond and his reference site :http://www.error-ref.com/

I said I'm not 100% sure it isn't PMD, it could be just normal "road rash" damage therefore not worth anything. Pleas note also, a planchet as is not a mega-buck error, sorry to say.

More I look at it it is most likely a prestrike lamination error. That's where a piece of the planchet peeled off and then was struck. The split along geo head leading into the ripples, is a sign. I'm guessing the coin is thinner in damaged area. That would cause a failure to completely strike details on reverse and allow only EM to show...because it was thick enough there and right on the edge. That's a keeper error, still not high $, but uncommon.
