CoinMasters Pillar of the Community United States 5964 Posts	Posted 07/13/2017 12:44 am the steps look scratched. Usually scratches displace metal, making it appear raised on the coin. That's probably what got you there. When something on a coin is incuse, it reflects light exactly opposite of something in relief. As far as the column goes, it looks interesting and could be one of a few things. Unfortunately though none of them would be worth investigating any further as the condition of the coin dashes the interest. Better luck on the next one. Report this Post to the Staff
