For the sake of this thread, are Manila-mint Philippines coins allowed (as an official branch of the US mint operating in a US territory) or not allowed (as Manila is not in the mainland US, and did not mint any non-Philippine coins?)

I would say "Yes!" -- I've already posted a few.

The bigger question, however, is "Should the coins struck for the US Territory and/or Commonwealth of the Philippines be considered world coins or US coins? After all, each coin struck for the US-PI features "United States of America" on it. How many "world" coins can say the same?

For the sake of this thread, are Manilla-mint Philippines coins allowed (as an official branch of the US mint operating in a US territory) or not allowed (as Manilla is not in the mainland US, and did not mint any non-Philippine coins?)

Sorry I didn't not see this reply before. I would have to agree with Commems. For the sake of this thread, yes I will allow them both.

The Philippines are listed one the PCGS list I use.

Here is the PCGS list again.

Even though Mania is not listed I do believe they should be included in this thread...Thanks for asking.

All Panamanian coins were minted in Philadelphia until the 1980s if memory serves. Most denominations were struck on US planchets since the Balboa has been pegged 1:1 to the USD since inception in 1904. The first issues in 1904-05 had the "true" silver value, which briefly made them contain twice as much silver as their US counterparts due to a slump in the silver prices. 5 centesimos were struck on dime planchets, 10 on (slightly lighter) quarter planchets, 25 on half planchets, and 50 on dollar planchets. The Mint made a special 10mm planchet for the 2 1/2 Centesimos, which was the smallest ever produced at the US mint.
