With all the Chinese fake gold bars on the market (even carded), I prefer government minted coins. Far easier to spot a fake on those than a bar.

I like gold eagles and minted bars (sunshine mint, bars in assay cards). Watch out for fake Perth Mint bars on ebay. I got to fakes and returned it right away.
