So the 7-coin proof set is a reproduce of the 1967 Centennial set? I understand this is a beautiful set. However, personally I won't purchase a copy set with zero creative effort.
For some of us, the attraction is nostalgic. Similar to RCM's themes to promote Superman and Star Trek memorabilia, for me Alex Colville's designs in 1967 represent the highlight of my early interest in numismatics. Indeed, at that time also came the end of silver circulation coins so the stashing of coin that seemed to be a popular national pastime might have increased the appeal, it was so long ago I can't quite remember. lol! But I still have all those rolls as a fond reminder of my dad's pursuit of the hobby. Maybe of interest, while the designs may appear simplistic in terms of art, the underslying symbolism is just as applicable today as it was 50 years ago. "...... Colville chose animals for his theme but he didn't choose them simply as symbols of Canada's natural heritage: he picked each one for the values and virtues that it represents. His choices are as thought-provoking as his designs are beautiful and they give us insight into his vision of Canada. Although the coins were only issued for one year they are still popular......."http://www.bankofcanadamuseum.ca/20...e-1920-2013/

The penny in this set is the first actual sized penny coin to come out since 2012 correct? All the other penny coins that have come out since have either been 5oz, 2oz, or 1oz, but this one looks to have the same diameter, width, and size. Might make this penny worth more since it is the actual size of a penny.

The RCM return policy allows to buy and see...same as was with 2017 (or 2016?) Penny set. And with the mintage of 20.000 popularity probably will not be.... But, I can guess that graded 70 with proper label, with FDOI or FR or ER will be hot item.

Did I read correctly? A 4 piece silver fractional set? Since 2013 I have been collecting the 5 piece sets ($1 to $5) exclusively and passing over the other versions such as the Arctic Fox or Bald Eagle. My first purchase that got me started was the 2009 RCM branded set (my favourite followed closely by the Queen's Longest Reign set) which from all appearances may be my last. If the Mint does not produce a 5 piece set for 2017 then they are further reinforcing the notion that they are out of touch with the collector and will continue to see a slump in NCLT sales as a result.

If you speak about 2004/2005 Arctic Fox - if I remember correctly, this and Lynx, are only the sets, where all 4 coins have different designs....

Quote: Did I read correctly? A 4 piece silver fractional set? Yes. It can be found on ebay with pictures. 4 coins. The design appears to be a three stacked leaves and the coins are double dated 1867-2017. The set is called "Maple Leaf Tribute".

To me, all the others since 2012 have been poor examples of the one cent. Nice enough coins but a penny that is not a penny is not a penny. The set looks great to me. (Image from ebay)

Question: Do you think any of these coins in the set will be issued as singles (or with different packaging) once the set sells out?

I'd say that it's very unlikely but ya never know.

Won't these look so good beside the 1867-1967 set. 100 years for the first set, plus, 50 for the second. There is your Canada 150.

Thank you for sharing, CC-Ottawa Great set This even causing to think, that the design of 1967 - they are our real Anniversary coins (100 and 150), and not the 2017. Half a year passed (even more), and except the Loonie, I didn't see any in the wild. So they are some 'abstract' thing, that exists in theory... Quote: Question: Do you think any of these coins in the set will be issued as singles (or with different packaging) once the set sells out? Following the example of specimen sets, the Toonie or Loonie with the wildlife designs never have been issued alone. 20000 sets is a lot. I don't think, that that RCM will add more. But everything could happen, and might be we will see Penny or $20 coins. Anyway - if you want standalone coin - better hunt for graded one. It sealed and you can buy wooden box for slabbed coin...

It's been an expensive last 10 months for a silver dollar collector. Starting with the first Home and Native Land proof set that was launched last September through to the present, a SD collector has needed to spend $754.70 to keep his/her collection complete: - 2017 Special Edition Pure Silver Proof Set - Canada 150: Our Home and Native Land - $229.95 (selectively gold-plated silver dollar) - 2017 Pure Silver Proof Set - 150th Anniversary of Canadian Confederation (Allegory) - $234.95 (selectively gold-plated silver dollar) - 2017 Limited Edition Silver Dollar Proof Set - Canada 150: Our Home and Native Land - $99.95 (colour-enhanced silver dollar) - 2017 Special Edition Proof Silver Dollar - Our Home and Native Land - $59.95 - 2017 Proof Silver Dollar - 150th Anniversary of Canadian Confederation - $59.95 - 2017 Enameled Special Edition Proof Pure Silver Dollar - Our Home and Native Land - $69.95 (red enameled silver dollar) Add on the $234.95 for the upcoming 1967-2017 Fine Silver Commemorative Proof Set and the total rises to $989.65! Quite a spend level for the pursuit of Canada's NCLT 36mm silver dollars! I sure hope the RCM is now done with SD issues for 2017!

Crazy. I still think this one is coming, and wouldn't be surprised if there were others.
