CC-Ottawa: I remember your reply to a previous post that featured images of potential 2017 SD designs. One of the three has already been issued - maybe the version with the goose is also in the works. I agree that the goose with multiple flags design could be a winner, my wallet is just begging for relief!

Goose is iconic...especially since Colville - Goose with provincial flags will be a great affordable alternative to the giant puzzle coin... hope we see it soon... thanks for pic

Quote: If you speak about 2004/2005 Arctic Fox - if I remember correctly, this and Lynx, are only the sets, where all 4 coins have different designs @Silveroid The sets you mention are quite attractive but I never saw a reason to buy even more sets with fewer coins. I don't own the 5 piece hologram set because I never really cared for the design. Maybe someday, but I doubt it. I don't see any reason for me to purchase the Maple Leaf Tribute set just because it has double dates on it.

I understand you, Proof Nut. You basically collect the "sub-group" of these items, based on your criteria and preference. So back to the post : Quote: If the Mint does not produce a 5 piece set for 2017 then they are further reinforcing the notion that they are out of touch with the collector and will continue to see a slump in NCLT sales as a result. So well, with this item, RCM probably will not fit your needs, but satisfy some other collector, who for example, prefers bit less expensive 4-coin fractional set

Me too commems. This is the first of the proof sets I have ordered from the Mint since 2012. I did get the two 150 dollars from sets individually but I'm really looking forward to receiving this 1967 coins commemorative set.

Are not all coins available from Canada Post? It seems that the Coleville Commerative Proof Set is not in their catalogue

Quote: Are not all coins available from Canada Post? It seems that the Coleville Commerative Proof Set is not in their catalogue There have been coins that were not available at CP - not saying this set won't be though. It is advertised but the Mint as a 'special release' via e-mail today and does not seem to be part of the August release.

@CC Is the 'special release' you are referring to the MC newsletter? I got that around 1pm and it was a 'buy now' offer for the '67s. Just curious if you got a different email as I did not see any reference to 'special release' in mine. Always curious to hear about different/tailored methods of communication/channel or advertisement from RCM to its customer base. As well around 1pm the set went up, on my computer at least, on RCM site as presale.

Thank you Silveroid for your kind and supportive comments. Although no selling price was mentioned, going by the Coins.4.Fun posting on ebay, this particular 4 piece set may in fact be priced higher than the five piece sets preceding it except for the 2014 set which sold for $250. While the latest excitement seems centered on a commemorative set commemorating the 50th anniversary of another commemorative set, I fail to see what all the fuss is about. As a member of the Canadian Centennial Collector's Club, I have no interest in owning a replica set. Forgive me for being pessimistic but these latest items including the gilded silver maple leaf shaped coin (3rd in the series) are overpriced in my opinion with a very limited appeal. As you say, to each their own but I will pass on the latest 'cash grab' by our Money Factory or Circle M Ranch as some like to call it and patiently wait while after market prices plummet much to the chagrin of current purchasers. I have great respect for the effort, talent and creativity that goes into making the products sold through the numismatic department of the RCM and have purchased lots of items that I still own and always will treasure.

Man, I don't know if the mint doesn't like me or what? I'm Platinum Plus, no rep, no master club news letter, no special emails. If it wasn't for forums like this, I wouldn't know I could get this stuff. Only email I got today was for the 2 oz. Pure Silver Coin - ZentangleŽ Art: The Great Grey Wolf. Anyway, I purchased the Centennial Coin set this evening. I think it will look awesome with my original 1967 set.

What are your thoughts on the new "raven bringing light" 100$ 14ct. gold coin? I guess it is to commemorate the 20 years of the 1997 "raven bringing light to the world" 200$ coin? This is definitely one of my favorite coins ever, I think the new version looks great with the black paint or enamel.
709,95$, mintage is only 2000.
