So, does every MC member have the centennial coins show on the website for pre-order, as of today? Shouldn't the highest tiers of MC be the only ones with ability to order? Sorry rj, not trying to single you out or anything. It's just that I thought we all agreed you weren't supposed to find out about this stuff until it was too late and you were out of luck.

Yes, all of the Aug. releases are on the RCM site now. At least for Platinum Plus. Funny, got no advance notice email from rep. Did anyone get email from rep?. Usually get email with new coins , then available online next day. Wonder if they change policy. If so, no need for rep.

I got my advance notice last evening. As always, my rep also sent us one day prior, an email telling his clients that we would be getting advance notice on June 24th and at what time. No complaints here. Other than on one occasion during transition from one rep to a new one (three or four years ago, did I not get the advance notice. So far very good service.

When I click on the "order now" button from the MC newsletter it takes me to another page with a "phone your representative to place an order" button. RCM seems to have a unique understanding of the meaning of such buttons. Service of such prestigious distinction is surely deserving of some prestidigitation. Button, digitation, fingers in wallet. Magic? More like, um, magical.

Quote: While the latest excitement seems centered on a commemorative set commemorating the 50th anniversary of another commemorative set, I fail to see what all the fuss is about. As a member of the Canadian Centennial Collector's Club, I have no interest in owning a replica set.
Forgive me for being pessimistic but these latest items including the gilded silver maple leaf shaped coin (3rd in the series) are overpriced in my opinion with a very limited appeal.
As you say, to each their own but I will pass on the latest 'cash grab' by our Money Factory or Circle M Ranch as some like to call it and patiently wait while after market prices plummet much to the chagrin of current purchasers.
The RCM continues to roll on with gimmick coins and repeated themes. How many more Superman coins and crystal raindrops coins do we need? The Crystal Raindrop coin is second in the series? They already had several years of crystal raindrops and now they started another series? I thought it was all the same series. This month have 24 coin releases! Including both new and subscriptions. So how many coins did you guys get besides the Centennial Set?

I am saving my money for the Toronto Maple Leaf 100th Anniversary silver dollar and other coins coming either September or October, nothing in this release excites me! The RCM has to understand enough is enough, same themes done over and over, and the mintage's aren't that great either!

When I was kid, I could afford for myself, 1 simple foreign circulation coin per 2 weeks. And constantly added something to the collection, upgraded and traded. Together with this liked to get busy with the collection - cleaned the coins (oh that time I didn't know the rules), moved from one box to another and later from one binder to another. Later even merged my coins with coins of my friends and unmerged later... So, I was 'entirely in'. And now it came to "buy coin from the Mint or dealer and put it away". Nice addition - conversation on this forum. But where is the 'collecting'? That's why I overfed with 300+ issues per year by RCM, and feel that 3 per year will be enough for me.

I'll probably get the centennial set. I'm wacky for the originals as I was too young to experience them in their 'original' condition, so they have a legendary sort of status in my mind. Can't help it. But everything else seems ridiculous. Double dates are very collectible. Now, RCM has changed over the years. When businesses are unsustainable, change happens, eventually. Nothing would surprise me, except this churning out of kitsch, that this board surmises is without buyer interest, continuing apace indefinitely. All I can guess is they have a surplus of silver, at the moment. They won't be able to blame the FV program forever. Will they?

Was just at the RCNA show in Quebec, the RCM had a booth with quite a few RCM personal there, they see nothing wrong with their present marketing, the coins are still selling you get their side of the story, if you don't like the mass releases just don't buy it, seems like someone else is. Also another note questioned them why they stopped the bulk order department in Winnipeg, was to stop hoarding of the 150 coins, did the exact opposite the coins are hoarded by special connections, the RCM people just don't care

The mint is really getting gimmicky with everything and anything. The only coins they have never commemorated is furniture themes.
On another note, latest mint survey was about the coin packaging. Seems they are keen to offer three options: 1. Just want the coin and certificate; 2, coin with certificate and basic case for purchase; or 3, coin with certificate and premium case for purchase.
I recall the mint selling coins without case about 15 years ago and if you wanted the coin with case, it cost an extra, $5-$10.

The recent RCNA was pretty busy for the dealers, wicked long drive for me due to the massive Quebec road constructions, met a few good friends and a nice venue, as an error guy got to see a really odd strikes mentioned in the error section.
