A very nice looking coin but too expensive for me. Also. too high a mintage of 2000 for it to go up in value or even hold its value.

Nothing for me this month. Last month was an expensive month so gladly having a break.
The Colville anniversary coin set is nice but I don't have the first one so it's a pass for me. Received an email from my rep yesterday evening that it's 87% sold out already.
Raven coin will be nice but putting GST on top kills it. The gate coin seems like just another kind of gimmick that doesn't interest me.

MoneyPenney, thank you for picture!
I like this kind of art...beautiful.
And the set.... I easily can pass over it, but isn't what I always wanted - old coins in the modern quality and pristine look?
OMG, 87% have been sold! People hoarding it - one for collection, couple for the kids, one for display in the office, one as spare...
P.S.: When the members of this forum meet each other in the reality (for the beer, game or whatever) do they usually speak about coins?

I ordered the 2 oz Flora and Fauna coin. The pictures are already available on ebay. The coin is an encyclopedia of Canadian plants and animals. All plants and animals are organized in an artistic and organic way, instead of using a diagram (I'm looking at you: the puzzle coin). There are about 15 animals and 10 plants on this coin. Each of them is very detailed. I also like the simplicity of the maple leaf in centre; it balances out the detailed and busy 25+ objects depicted on the coin. I'm not sure about the obverse side though. The obverse is too simple for a 2-oz coin. Usually, there are some pattens in the background, giving the obverse a more sophisticated look. On the other hand, the regular wave or maple leaf background patten doesn't match with the plain background on reverse. Finally, I like the low mintage of this coin: 4,000. I also paid attention to the gold coin of maple leaf shape. The "autumn fire" is stunning. Overall, this is a cute coin. However, it also comes with the risk of being mistaken with a maple syrup bottle.

But not the 30000 mintage! That's something. Another note: thoughts on commission of Centennial? Sellout alert (already) makes me wonder. And I wonder why they couldn't stick the alert on the webpage of the set? Seems to me I'm always on the alert for getting gamed from my favorite store. Sheesh.

@ Commems Sort of on the topic of 2017 silver dollars (which considering all, probably is worthy of its own discussion thread), not sure when this medal was released and I can't seem to find it on RCMs website, but it's also 36mm in size. It was either you or someone else here who mentioned the Charles and Dianna medal was the same size as SDs...and for good reason in light of the bizarre imagery, it became added to my collection and so now comes this....why not. . 2017 Canada 150 Logo Silver Medal * Editing out link, my apologies, not sure why it won't open. I hope it's okay to post this image instead. Mintage 1000. There is also a piefort 2oz version, but it's appears to be sold out.

Getting error on the CC&C page But do you refer to the "Flying Goose" medal? Oh...not the Goose. I see it. All the CC&C page full of overpriced "re-strikes" 1oz of silver Medal with not clear mintage priced as CAD 79? too much, imo

Agreed Silveroid, that Canada 150 medal is severely overpriced. A slightly larger 39MM, and much more attractive alternative is this bullion piece. https://www.colonialacres.com/product-p/wbs-c5.htmI have a few and they really are very nice. Interesting thought on the Centennial set. I'd be shocked (disappointed) if this is a commissioned item. I don't believe a proof set has ever been commissioned and I'd be really upset if the Mint allowed the Colville images to be exploited in that way. I guess we will see when the next TSC show airs. If they have half the 10k mintage, we'll know...but again, I really doubt it.

@wildflower: Thanks for thinking of me. I agree, the 2017 SDs likely do deserve a separate thread - I've been contemplating starting one but don't let that prevent you from taking the lead.
Yes, I saw that medal during the July 1 weekend when I visited the CCC web site. I seriously thought about buying a silver piece and a copper piece, but CCC's shipping to the US is very expensive ($28) and made the overall purchase a bit more than I wanted to spend.
As a nice alternative, I did purchase a silver and copper version of the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association's Canada 150 medal. As a Life Member of the organization, it seemed like a good fit. I like its design and the cost per medal was lower (as was the shipping).
PS Yes, it was me who discussed the Charles and Diana medal and its close relationship to Canada's NCLT SDs. Glad to hear you added one to your collection!

High price CAD 200 justified by $200 face value (but again, time might come, when banks will not accept them for face value), the mintage is large.

@ CC-Ottawa......You may be on to something about this set being commissioned. I had a look at the Canada Post order sheets today and the set is no where to be found. Wouldn't Canada Post normally get access to these sets, especially with a high mintage of 20,000?
