Well what do ya know...
I just got my 2 and I got one of each!

The 2008 rev is much nicer looking strike wise.
Almost has a reverse proof look to it.
The 2007 rev is plain jane satin and a little soft struck IMO.

I was going to ask why they revamped the reverse, but I suppose it was to sharpen up the details some.

Maybe the reason I got one of each is because I got the last 2007 rev! j/k!

I have been under the assumption that any uncirculated 2008 ASE could have the 07 reverse...anyone know for sure ?

Right now, they have only been found on the mint marked Eagles. However, keep your assumption. Just because one has not been discovered yet, does not mean a 2008 w/2007 rev bullion Eagle doesn't exist. They have only been out for four months and the rev variety was just discovered a month or so ago so if one(or more) is out there, someone has to find it Remember, the bullion Eagles are also minted at West Point sans mint mark so it is entirely possible that the same mix up occurred with both types of Eagles.

The fonts are quite different. Look at the shapes of the A on both coins. That is just one of the letters that differs.

Has anyone gone as far and described this as a mule? Could it even be thus clasified?

Check out this ebay auction...
The pic clearly shows a 2008 obv with 2007 rev.
no mint mark.
The seller claims the coins for sale are all from the same
"roll"...
Is this our sign that it spilled over to business strikes?

I think they set the pic up like that to play on folk's
excitement over this. I can see someone thinking they
are getting the good stuff. They would figure the seller
doesn't know or care about the reverse, and wouldn't say
anything outright on the subject during the auction,
for fear of 'tipping off' the seller to a rare coin.
After they pay, probably a little too much, they can't
complain. What's to complain about? The seller told them
the coin in the pic was already gone...
That's my take on it.
Not criminal I suppose, but definately a seller I will
never deal with now.

I thought that auction might be a little deceptive myself, it is a "stock photo" so I guess they can always use that as an explanation. I will be checking all of the regular uncirc eagles as I see them- if they are thus far limited to the W's....the first plain one should fetch a good price !

Sounds like these things are probably not "rare" by any
meaning of the word. Folks getting 6 out of 6, and 2 out of 3...
Sounds like someone NOT getting them in a multiple order
is more rare.
